37 people have been killed after a huge explosion at an arms depot in Ukraine which was struck by a Russian drone. The ams storage facility was based near a residential areas on the outskirts of the capital, Kyiv. Hundreds of people have been evacuated from the area and a rescue operation is continuing, with fears that the death toll will rise.
Shells, mines and drones stored at the facility exploded in a massive blast that destroyed nearby homes nearby, including a care home for the elderly and disabled.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly criticised the location of the depot near people’s homes, saying an investigation had been launched into "terrible negligence on the part of those who stored explosive right next to people".
