US Vice-President JD Vance gave a briefing at the White House and spent time taking questions from journalists.
On Iran, Vance reiterated his "red line" that Iran must not have a nuclear weapon, and said neither US President Donald Trump nor Tehran want the US military campaign to restart.
In his press briefing, Vance said the US has made "a lot of progress" in the negotiations with Iran and insisted that "this is not a forever war".
