Is this the best robot Disney's ever made? Frozen's snowman Olaf will soon greet guests at Disneyland Paris. The life-size, 33-pound bot basically taught himself to walk in a physics simulation co-developed by Nvidia, Google DeepMind, and Disney Imagineering, where a hundred thousand virtual Olafs helped train the real one. While Imagineering has brought Star Wars droids to life before, Olaf is Disney's first walking, talking, machine-learning robot that doesn't look like a robot. He won't be the last; Disney Imagineers say they're looking forward to building more.
