Donald Trump's new National Security Strategy highlights just how dramatically the US's foreign policy has shifted — a change the president calls a 'necessary' and 'welcome correction'.
The document places less emphasis on fighting conventional military adversaries such as Russia, focusing instead on what it portrays as threats closer to home.
But the most controversial section of the document is the one on 'promoting European greatness'. Using language more commonly associated with ultra-nationalist extremists, the document warns Europe faces 'civilisational erasure' due to migration and 'cratering birthrates'.
