Dozens of high engagement accounts on the social media platform X have been accused of misleading users following the rollout of a new transparency feature that shows user locations.
BBC Verify has found accounts posing as US and Scottish users getting involved in national political debates, which actually seem to be run by people in other countries such as Kenya and Iran.
