After years of growth, China’s luxury spending has slowed, weighed down by a prolonged property slump and weak consumer confidence. While brands say the market has now stabilised, they remain cautious about the outlook. Analysts believe that much of the recovery depends on a handful of China’s biggest cities — and whether the crowds flocking to spectacles like Louis Vuitton’s ship are ready to spend.
