Ethiopia is scheduled to open its brand new stock market in January as part of the country's recent efforts to open up its economy and position itself as an investment destination. The long-touted stock exchange will help lure foreign investment to the Horn of Africa nation. Ethiopia is the only one of Africa’s five biggest economies not to have a stock market. Other key events in Africa in 2025 include elections in Ivory Coast and Tanzania, and the Group of 20 summit in South Africa. Bloomberg's Samuel Etienne reports.
