What's it actually like to spend a summer doing open-ended investment research? Michelle Jin sits down with Maia Szafer, the Senior Investment Associate who mentored her throughout her internship, to reflect on her experience.
Over eight weeks, Bridgewater's Investment Associate interns move from intensive investment training to working directly with our investment teams on the questions they're tackling today. For Michelle, that meant joining the Impact of AI team to research vertical AI and its potential to reshape companies and industries. In this conversation, she and Maia talk through navigating ambiguity in open-ended research, finding where AI helps her thinking versus where it risks replacing it, and her experiences giving and receiving feedback—including sharing her feedback on the summer with Bridgewater’s CEO.
