Panic about Islam in Europe is spreading. In several European countries around half the population believe that Islam is incompatible with Western values. But in reality Muslims make up only a small percentage of Europe’s people, and their attitudes largely resemble their compatriots. Why, then, are so many Europeans against Islam?
