Who was Ali Shamkhani?
Ali Shamkhani was a longtime Iranian military and political leader. He served as a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and led Iran’s Defense Council.
One of the most influential figures in Iran’s security establishment, he was in a position to help his son, who went on to be a global oil magnate.
