OpenTable has long been the largest restaurant reservation platform– but its success has been challenged by competitor Resy and new entrants like DoorDash, which acquired hospitality platform SevenRooms in 2025. The restaurant industry has become a focal point for credit card companies. Resy's total number of bookable venues has seen more than a fivefold increase since its acquisition by American Express in 2019, and Chase has partnered with both OpenTable and DoorDash to leverage dining as a perk.
