What does it actually take to earn the title of United States Marine? Over the last seven years, Business Insider chief video correspondent Graham Flanagan and his team on the "Boot Camp" series have been given rare, inside access to one of the most exclusive military training programs in the world: the US Marine Corps. We followed recruits and officers through the moments that break people, reshape them, and decide who earns the title of Marine.
The Marine Corps is the smallest US military branch, with about 170,000 active members, compared to about half a million in the Army. But unlike the other branches, the Marines haven’t struggled with recruiting. Since 2019, it has met or exceeded its recruiting goals every year, despite its training being known as the toughest the military has to offer.
