During her session at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana spoke at length about the company's ambitions for expansion, but also addressed one of the biggest hurdles in its way: public perception.
In instances in which a Waymo vehicle makes a questionable decision, Mawakana said that it's "important to recognize, it’s not going to be perfection, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be accountable for transparency,” but later on, concluded that she thinks society will accept a fatality caused by a vehicle if road safety overall has improved.
